So going back to the Original question should a new currency system ( if one was going to be created ) be fractionally tethered to something finite?
What is finite?
Bitcoin is unless there is some cheeky person who can create another chunk somehow. (Fractions of a bitcoin are called Satoshis) Gold is unless more is discovered or an asteroid made of it lands in my back garden.
Tethered to something trustworthy is perhaps the reality? Who knows with absolute surety who has how much gold? You believe and trust they do and act accordingly. But even without that some countries and so their currency are deemed to be trusted so off you go.
My finite pig swapped with my neighbours finite carrots is a fairly solid transaction but limited so far?
