Really great design exploration. You might consider something along the lines of a sugar scoop whic has an open end.
The Cree/Dene' in the interior use them as water ladles for ceremonial sweat-lodge events. I've held the one
that my brother used.
An oven-baked olive oil finish cannot ever be washed off. I've done 70 spoons and 30 forks and no,
the entire notion of them going "rancid" is pure, political bunk.

You could make the handles far thicker = my old, arthritic hands can't pinch skinny spoon handles any more.

Thanks RV, loving using my tools (axe, bushcraft knife, fine mora, curved mora). Saw a man with a pole lathe at WG which gave me a few ideas, and I've got half an eye on building a shave horse.

I've finished this in walnut and it's come out a treat.
