carved wooden bowls

some wooden bowls carved by students this week.

I normally recommend folk do dough trough shaped bowls as cutting wood at 45 degrees is easier than straight across the end grain but this group all wanted to do round ones for their second bowls.

Thanks folks, I think they were all very pleased, I was impressed too, most of them had no previous carving experience, it's a nice project and more to show off when you get home than a spoon or two. Most partners/friends are more impressed with a bowl, though a really good spoon is much harder to do.
