Once if my favourite things I only ever do outdoors is to have a giant crusader mug of well brewed tea with lashings of condensed milk. I used to carry the Nestle toothpaste tubes of the stuff as carrying a tin means either using it or carefully avoiding spilling what's left.
The tubes appear to have been discontinued and I had spotted these in the major supermarkets a while ago:

I had presumed it was kind of special condensed milk flavoured topping but it's actually just.... plain old condensed milk!

It has a squeeze seal-able lid and I'm back on the pints of sweet tea!

Thanks for posting this. For me, it's cocoa powder with condensed milk. Condensed milk in tubes is readily available in France and I usually bring back a couple of tubes if i remember. However, it has quite a short shelf life so knowing it is now available in England is great news. I'll have a good look next time I'm in a supermarket.

I loved ordinary carnation milk in my coffee....I can't digest milk now, it makes me really nauseous, but I still miss carnation.....or better yet, carnation in rice pudding :) with raisins :)

Carnation in a sandwich...... Total blast from the past. Cheers John , I may just have to treat myself for old times sake.

I find the European stuff not as sweet. That's not a bad thing at all but I was surprised. I always like to have some on my work travels, it's so much better than the UHT wee cartons. I'm using some Polish stuff ATM and bought some Nestle stuff in Vienna over new year. I have to admit at ignoring the use by dates.

I know there’s no such thing as a stupid question, but I think this probably is one:

Is a condensed milk sandwich just bread with condensed milk spread on it like marmite?
I'll admit I'm also intrigued.

If you put the unopened can into a pot of water, bring it to the boil and then simmer it for a couple of hours....let it cool a bit, then open the can....you know the caramel in Millionaire's shortbread ?
Well that's it :D

Easy to make if you've a fire at camp and fokls sitting around it in the evening. Just make sure the pot doesn't boil dry.

If you get the "toothpaste tube" condensed milk you apply it to the bread like Primula cheese spread - straight from the tube :)

Never heard of them, might give them a try. Had golden syrup sandwiches in my child hood.

We regularly had golden syrup on porridge, so that's what we had in the house.
