yup, i use oil every now and then but i don't scrub the blade clean of any patterning from use, so after a while it develops a pateena, and resits corrosion a bit better imo.
Apples... eat an apple a day and always use the knife to core the apple. Once you've finished eating the apple rinse the blade under cold water, no detergent needed. If after a week you don't have at least the beginnings of a nice patina, you're eating your apples too fast
