I have read too they had a very mild winter. Here on island, last year we only had 50% of the average annual rainfall.
Historically temperatures have fluctuated hugely, so I would not worry too much.

Same temps here. Very cold for 4-5 weeks after Christmas but has been melting every day since.
All clear but for the biggest snow banks and drifts. End of Feb/16, it quit snowing. Seems 3 weeks earlier this year.
By contrast, we should have knee-deep snow, -10C daytime high.
No serious melting at all until mid-March.
Somebody said that "climate change" meant more extremes the further you go from the equator.
When it's been 0C at the North Pole recently, agreed.
