I can't find the thread from a couple of weeks ago. I liked the idea and then the Scout section were given an old auger bit.
We had out Group Camp this weekend, at some local woods. At the site there is now some lumps Oak from a recently felled tree. I started work on making one into a bench and one of the lads came back from a wide game and got involved. It quickly became his project;
Some more work needs doing on the drill, but might have to make an activity of bench making next time out.

but hwy have you used a whole half log? another split with a froe would take seconds and give you twice as much wood for making stools- which means one to sit on and one to put your feet up
