Hi and welcome. RE your idea for a one handed firesteel i think you will find it has already been done, i have been using one for years to light welding torches and blowlamps, available from most welding equipment suppliers. Admittedly they do not look aesthetic so there could be some improvement there, hope you are successful,

Milling and turning, brass tubes and threaded caps, a spring and a built in scraper, pm you shortly when i get home

You're going to have to consider all the metal cooling down any sparks though…….I have a brass friction pump that I can't get to work because it makes things too cold too quickly.

Dont want someone making millions from my idea, before I own one of the finished articles, lmso as long as i can light my fire I dont care what people do with the plan after that.

Would you need to find out what blastmatch has patented in their design first I have used one for years and it is a very simple piece of kit but like they say simple when you know how. best of luck with it and cant wait to see the plans.

Mine comes in a neat wee matchbox sized case that holds the cotton tinders too.
