G'day everyone.

I recently put a "Bushcraft knife" through some final testing.

Unfortunately prior commitments saw me unable to finish the final test in the bush.

The final test was to carve out a large scrapper (with a Billy notch) that would be used around the camp kitchen.

So even though I didn't get to head bush last week, I recently spent a couple of hours on the back verandah (over two days), using the Liten Bror & GB mini to carve the Scrapper out of a seasoned hardwood limb I had on hand.

Since these types of implements are great to have around the campfire, I thought I'd share a series of videos I took to capture the process.

First up, Notching, Fuzz sticks and Shaving.

The next video is included to help give an indication of the limb that was used. The saw is the Bahco Lapplander and was used to square off the limb prior to carving.

Now for the carving

That was cool mate. You made a great spatula too, clever to put a notch in the end for your billy. Looks like a demon wee knife. Hope you paid your camera crew, LOL.

G'day Caliban

Thanks for the feedback.

I was beginning to think that I had placed this in the wrong subforum :D

......clever to put a notch in the end for your billy.
As I'm getting older, I'm either getting lazier or smarter. Although getting lazier is probably more accurate ;)

......Looks like a demon wee knife.
It certainly is. Drills well too :D

G'day Brian

.... That sure sounds like some very hard wood. If you said what kind it was i didn't catch it so can you tell me? Got any still shots of the knife? Hard to tell a lot about it in motion.

Come to think of it, I don't think I mentioned the type of Gum it was.

It was a piece of knotty Blakely's Red Gum :D

Pretty typical of the wood I have available for Bushcraft :lmao:

I have the odd still shot of the Liten Bror in action ...

First up, from using it as a woodworking tool ...
Endofthejob1.jpg

Next, from using it as a fishing knife....

Next opening oysters..

... using it to cut up chicken thigh fillet for bait...

Then one from the trip that tested it's drilling ability....
LitenBror21.jpg

And finally one from using it to fully process a goat from slaughtering to breaking up the carcass....

Mick,
I'm a new guy on this forum. Everyone else seems to know the background on this knife. Appears to be a Bark River. Is that correct? " A kiss good night?" Hope it wasn't some guy named Bruno.:yikes: Also, I enjoyed the guest appearance of your dog. I have a Blue Heeler (Queensland Heeler) which almost got eaten by a pit bull cross two days ago. She isn't afraid of any dog, any size. Great Australian export. John Lee

Yes it is the Bark River Liten Bror.

My camera crew consisted of my 12 year old daughter and my 9 year old son :D

Tinkerbell (Tink for short) is an Australian Fox Terrier. She'll be two in November.

Kind regards
Mick
