I'm looking for a Bushcraft style knife similar to the one Ray Mears uses.
Here's my criteria:
Good tool steel (a2, d2, etc..)
Scandi Grind
Full tang with Micarta scales.

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer, model name, or custom knifemaker that makes one fitting my criteria, Thanks

Hi Mate, you could try Paul Baker (BushmanUK) or Allan Wood to start with, but if you try over on British Blades try getting hold of shing, pretty much all of these guys do some good knives.

You could also try one of your countrymen, someone like J Neilson (I can't remember his site of the top of my head, but you will find a link on BB in the makers section as he normall has bits for sale and he does make a bushcraft knife.

 Hi you could always try Stewart Marsh he's a very good knife maker who makes the Bushcraft design knife almost identical to the Ray Mears Woodlore! You can find his knives on e-bay under bushcraft. :D :lmao:
Hope this gives you a few to choose from with the other suggestions as well :)

I would reccomend Shing simply because i have experience with his blades and find them to be superb!

I forgot a couple, one has been mentioned Stuart Marsh the other is a guy called Roger Linger, as to the quality of them your best bet would be to ask some of the owners.

moduser has a Stewart Marsh knife and I know he got good service from him.

Wayne IIRC has a knife by Roger Linger so he could give you a solid opinion on that one.

D2 is a very good steel, very hard and keeps a good edge for a long time, better than O1 but its not as tough as O1. I have no experience with A2 so can't comment directly but tests shows its very tough, tougher than O1 but not as good as D2 in edge holding.

I really like D2 for small knives and folders, very difficult to grind after heat treating because its so wear resistant but thats what makes it great for edge holding.

For larger blades, I would go for CPM 3V if money was no object, very tough like A2 and with good edge holding like D2. O1 is a very good steel as well, tough and good edge holder but the newer steel has the edge!
