Essex Wildlife Trust do a few one day bushcraft courses that look ideal for beginners, as well as wild food 1/2 day courses, and wild photography etc (wild food & photography taught by Kris of Greenman Bushcraft).
I have put down for the Bushcraft on 10 May and wild food on the 18 May as they seem a sensible and cost effective way of seeing if it is what I want to do (reading about things often being different to actually doing them!).
For anyone who wants an intro type course (or a partner who wants to have a bushcraft taster?) they seem ideal, but only if you are near Essex.
