Down in Essex it can be quite difficult to find areas to go camping, practice bushcraft in woodland settings etc. On the flip side, we in scouting have a few people interested in bushcraft and the facilities to teach and practice it - we've also many kids who really want to learn.

Would anyone be interested in starting an active support unit for bushcraft?

Basically you'd be covered insurance wise & need a CRB. The cost will be capitation (£30 I think) a year. This plus the eCRB will allow you access to their sites to legitimately practice and teach bushcraft.

To start the unit, we'd need a few members & the election of a group exec.

We would run yearly (or more often) training sessions - for adults and kids in the scouting community using their facilities and sites. Course costs would have to be kept to a minimum but would cover materials etc though that's up to the committee.

Would anyone be interested? Official members would need to be 18+, but attendees of events could be 6+. Anyone already involved in scouting does not need to pay the £30 as it'd be covered in your group.
