Buckthorn Serving Spoon

I just finished up a Buckthorn heavy duty cooking/serving spoon. I really like working with Buckthorn as the grain is interesting, the wood hard for durability, but it still works well. I really like the odd grain “wrinkles” found in this one in the bowl.

From the side and shown here with the birch “tea dyed” spoon I finished a while back.

That is a nice spoon, I especially like the ray fleck pattern in the bowl. I wonder how it would look to make one in the quarter sawn orientation.

Ahh purple....this one's grain was so nice it did not require punishment with purple
