Can anyone give me some advice on burning a bowl?

I have seen a picture here before but cant seem to find it now. :(

I presume you just pile embers onto a sizable chunk of wood and let it burn down into a bowl shape (but as always this is probably not the case)

Any ideas/Advice greatfully recieved

(I may be talking rubbish here)

Gouge out a little recess with the tip of your knife and try to get a decent size ember in to it. It’s easiest to use a straw to feed the ember with oxygen and dictate the direction in which it burns. there are various plants which can be used as a straw as they naturaly have a tube down the middle of parts of them.
