Boot Rubber Repair Advice Please

Hello Everyone,

While on my course in Jan, I managed to catch the tip of my boot with the axe, and thankfully It never got to my toes, but now i have a nasty gash in the rubber toe protector of my nice boots.

it goes all the way down into the material, but only slightly. So it would need to be a waterproof seal, any advice much appreciated.

There must be plenty of ways to sort rubber problems out, I just can't think of any right now

Maybe something along the lines of a flexible sealant like silicone, obviously not the white one you've got leftover from the bathroom job

I expect some specialist boot fitters would come up with something.

Hello, i ripped my muck boots and needed to repair them so went looking for something suitable. There are a few things that are meant to be good.

"marine goop" is meant to be great for rubber boots, but i haven't managed to find any in the U.K. Apparently "shoe goo" or "stormsure" are also meant to be good for rubber boot repair. (I think that "shoe goo" comes in different colours which might look better). They are all designed for shoe repair and i think you use them like a filler and build up a new layer of rubber to cover the split.
I ended up using evo-stick "serious glue" because i saw it in a shop and thought i'd give it a try because it dries flexible. The "serious glue" worked well enough, it is waterproof and flexible like rubber when it cures, but the repair isn't as durable as i would have liked and has needed replacement a couple of times. If i had to do it again, i think i'd try one of the others listed above. Hope that helps

hi dave 53 here my berghaus walking boots got ripped so i used vulcanised rubber patch on it works for me

Aquasure... excellent stuff. Costs about £6 or £7 a tube so not cheap but definitely does the job.

I used the rubber boot bandage to repair a hole in my rubber boots. It's a pretty good patch and I've found it's useful for patching other things as well. You can buy them on line, just look up rubber boot bandage and you should be able to find their website. Hope this helps...
