A while back quite a few of us bought these knives in kit form as part of a group buy.
Well mine sat at home for a while, then I saw Leon-1's finished product. He binned everything except for the blade and produce a thing of beauty, so I asked if he could do the same for me, but with a few modifications.
As a left hander I needed a different sheath and also wanted a firesteel loop fitted to the side.
The handle, well I like walnut as my material of choice. What I got back is truly superb, walnut handle, brass & black spacers and mosiac pins. All beautiffully finished.
The steel is very hard and it has taken an age to remove the factory edge, but now it is done I have a very useable bushcrafting knife.
I have put the pictures in the gallery and will do a full review after taking this little knife on my next few adventures.

Tom they are probably still sulking that you got more orders in one group buy than they did in a year and wiped out there whole stock. It may be worth going direct to source (Grohmann) and quoting what you did last time and how many peopl bought them.

Pignut, the kits are great to work with, they have everything in them that you need including the sheath, but as Neil1 mentioned he is left handed so he wanted a different sheath to go with it. The walnut was available and Neil had said that he would like it so I may as well fit mosaics whilst I was there, be aware that the holes in the tang for those pins are nowhere near 1/4 inch (I think they were about 3mm) so if you plan on fitting mosaic pins get small ones for an easier life.

Neil mentioned they can be very hard to sharpen, Neils also has the spine squared so that it will give a reasonable shower of sparks.

Graham, there are a number of people who have them, just ask what people think of them. It's a shame because DancesWithHelicopters put his up in the classifieds section not that long ago.

They can be adapted to suit most peoples tastes with a little effort and the result is normally pretty good. The one that I am doing at the moment is Oak with red liners and I am beginning to think that it will look really good once finished.

If Tom does ever get another group buy off the ground then I may have to save some pennies to get a couple more as they are very nice to work on:) and I am having thoughts of striped ebony and steel grey liners, or amboina burl and green, not sure on pins at the moment.

There might be a blade only option from the factory but retail its only the kits I have both the boat and survival knives. I read you can buy seconds too but only from the factory shop itself.

I'm fairly certain that the group buy we did on OMF was direct with Grohmann.

the OMF group buy was run from the US so it made sense for them to deal direct with Grohmann in Canada, i contacted them initialy with the first buy and they told me they would help but i should try the UK distributer first which i did and all went fine..

but as i have still had no reply from Colonial i wil get in contact with the Grohmann in canada..

i will post info ina new thread if things work out so keep your eyes open :)
