Blanket harness

Hi.
I'm really interested in having a go at some leather work and fancy making a blanket harness.
It appears simple enough, that said it will be my first attempt so would appreciate some any tips or advice. What tools I would need, width and thickness of leather etc.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You could make a very simple one with three charity shop leather belts, and some rivets.

Seconded, if you want to add a sling a charity shop handbag is a good source. One thing, I made the mistake of just making the dog collar affairs that actually go around the roll just big enough for the load I then had in mind, I've since added to the roll and I have to make a long thin roll for it to fit the lot. Had I left the collars longer it would have been more versatile.
