Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed a few clumps of blackthorn with pocket plum gall, I have seen loads in a couple areas in Hampshire is it as common across the rest of the UK this year?

No sign of this in the Lower Wye Valley on any of the prunus varieties we have, I'm happy to report :)

Loads of blackthorn between Burridge and Curbridge (Curbridge nature reserve, along the top of the Hamble and the Cur) but not noticed the galls.
I'm back there with my scouts next week so will take another look. I'm sending them on a tree identification treasure hunt as part of their forrester badge.

Found some yesterday around Thurso , I've never seen or noticed it before., but I've only been picking it for around 20 years, mind you I never normally look at the bush until around October.
