I've done a few ladles out of birch, with this being the latest. As always, I don't sand, preferring the look of a tooled finish. (or maybe I'm too lazy to sand;))
For some odd reason, I like making ladles more than spoons, kuksas or bowls.
It's very close to being finished but I still have a bit of tidying up before I'll consider it completed.

The Mora is for scale since we're all familiar with it

Very nice sized and beautiful ladle.
Which I could get my hand on some nice crocked birch to try make one as nice as this one. ;)

And a little idea for the finish you might want to try to use a card scraper it will even out the tool marks and give closer to sanded but still the tooled feel.

fan tastic work, and a lovely end product, I could be perswaded to take up carving if I see things like that. I'll start with chopsticks.

Is that a knot in the underside of the cup in the last photo.
