Very nice, reminds me of a certain other pack! Can't fault Ian's work, I have one of his fine canvas tarps. Look forward to seeing it in action.

Great workmanship. Yes i asked him to do me one based on but not an exact copy

That looks really nice! Bilmo is certainly a skilled man, and a very generous chap too. :)

Fantastic mate! Ian's done a great job on that! He's a top bloke and you'll have a lot of good times using it :).

Oh that's a bonny pack, looks tough enough to see you out too. You now have to get out for an adventure with a pack like that.

Looks like a beauty, an eminently sensible and useful design.............Like Woof, I have one of Ian's woolen gaberdine smocks, lined with Linen, and it's hardly off my back now the weather's getting a little cooler :)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but your smock sounds interesting Mac, mines unlined, which makes it great in spring/summer/autumn, but I wear a jumper under it this time of year.

Yes Rob, it's a great bit of kit; I think Ian has some pictures of it on his Facebook thingy, or if not I could put some up or send 'em over the weekend if you like? :)

Natty looking pack there kris. I got one of ian's axe and saw cases the other week, very nicely made at a bargain price

"Pretty neat!" Why are such simple, straight forward packs so hard to find? Or am I looking in the wrong places?

If it were customizable, I was ask for only one thing to be different, maybe two. I would skip the padding on the shoulder straps and have them reversed so the smooth side of the leather is "inside" and to have the shoulder straps a little wider. The other things is that I like having the attachment points for the straps to be a little further apart. I really haven't made up my mind about waist belts on packs yet. They've only been around a little over a hundred years, you know.
