Hey all,
Would be interested to get some input on this old Billnas axe head I picked up.
Has the foundry stamp on one side and and A on the other as you can see in the linked pics below.
I believe it's from Finland but the guy who sold it said the North of Sweden. Any ideas of its age or what it would have been used for? Paid about 7 pounds for it, I imagine this is a decent price for what seems quality steel and a bit of an artifact.

Would love to do a restoration job on it when I get the tools.

Any input appreciated!

I don't know anything about it but if it was cleaned up and sharpened it could make a lovely axe for you to use.

Jammy so and so, I have been after one of those for a long time. It is Finnish. The handle is fitted in to it diffrently to other axe's, your best bet is to have a look on bushcraftusa, there has been a few group buys for them and a lot of info about them.

Where did you get it from?

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I will have a gander on Bushcraftusa so.

Picked it up at a flea market in Ronneby, Sweden. Got a few bits that day, a Hult Bruks (Hultafors) axe and a Sator Banko hatchet but this one was the most interesting.

If I see another I'll let you know!

Cheers,
Mark
