Would love a ventile jacket. I had a Howies pilot jacket years ago - before I really knew what it was - single layer, with double on the shoulders. Great quality at the time - first generation, made in uk, but WAY too small now! Everything I like the look of is £250 and up over. Keela Falkland looks good, but has another material for lining - any experiences?

So, what else is worth a look??

Cheers

Hi Malley,

Never dealt with them personally but anyone I know who has has been full of praises for them. http://www.hilltrek.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_copy_of_Ventile.html

Good luck in your search,
GB.

Cheers for that - will have a look there. I know how much work goes into them and they'll last a long time, funds are scarce though! :)

What do people recommend ex-military wise? I'm not a fan of smocks usually? Are there any issue ventile jackets? Non-camo?

I think the RAF do a navy one, could still be a smock though.

There is an old smock in olive green called a "cadet smock" made out of something similar to ventile but they are very difficult to get hold of. Someone on here was selling them a while back can't remember the fellah's name he might still have some, someone will know who it was. Great smock

@ malley; Mine is not a ventile, but is a smock of my design made for me by Ian which is exactly what I had in mind - apart from his skills as a maker it's this ability to listen and translate that makes all the difference.

If I can find someone this evening to take a couple of pics of me wearing mine I'll post 'em, if not there'll be a review soon..........hope this helps, .........atb mac

That's be great if its no bother?!?! Sent a message to Ian and have had a great reply - ln the price bracket I'm after, too. Now - the problem of choice when you can actually CHOOSE the design!! That's another matter . . . . . . .
