OK, it's about time someone asked this. What do we think of Bear Grylls? I can't make my mind up, he's certainly got a lot of impressive achievements under his belt and his survival exploits are quite entertaining too........well, they are for a while.
On the downside however, he can't be compared to Mr. Mears, he just can't, that would be blasphemy in the highest. He uses the word 'but' far, far, far too often, just listen to him for 10 minutes. Everything thing he does is always the biggest or the hardest or the hottest or coldest he has ever experienced and I did hear a rumour that most of his program was staged in that he spends nights in hotel's etc. and how come when he lands his parachute in the middle of nowhere with no idea where he is, there's always a camera crew waiting?.......BUT........and it's a big but, he does have a very personalised line in abject crazyness which is always a good thing and some of his survival 'skills' are things no self respecting Ray Mears-ist would ever try (drinking water squeezed from an elephant turd anyone?)
So what do we think?
