Ed, the General and all,
Please bear in mind that while Bearclaw is not in anyway asociated with the organisation of the Meet up I do run courses in the site we will be using and as such I would ask all members to treat the site with the proper respect it deserves. This should go without saying for as Bushcrafter respect and harmonious living with our habitat should be universal practise however I also understand there will be various levels of experience. Ultimately if in doubt ask either one of the moderating team or myself before doing anything which will damage the fabric of the woodland or create possible unrepairable damage.
I am sure Tony and the team, as well as all the members, would like the oppotunity to use the site again and this will only be an option if the best practises are employed at all time.
From my, and likely from the estate owners prospective, I would ask for the following rules to be adverhed to.
1. No felling, cutting or scaring of any green wood - practice low impact camping as professional bushcrafters should. The estate is a working estate and all trees are their property, any trees, young or old, felled maybe chargable as per usual timber company/woodland management prices.
2. Fires are to be lit only in the sandy areas designated and are forbidden in the woodland. Also note there will be plenty of fire wood available for forage without resorting to the above.
3. No dogs - as Ed pointed out the area is abundant in wildlife and those guys (maybe some of you) on next years tracking courses down there will not be happy if bcuk has scared off all the little critters.
4. Take ALL litter home with you or use the bins provided.
5. Hootchies and tents are fine but please dont come down expecting to build log cabins and debris shelters - again low impact camping is the name of the game.
Ultimately we should all be practising and living the old bornian rainforest guides adage -
Take only pictures - leave only footprints.[/b]
