I don't see why not. If it is in good working order and you know how to correctly operate it, it should be no more risky than any other stove.
Enders petrol stoves were original equipment in the earlier VW campers.

Sure, if you can guarantee that all the valves are in top condition, and the metal construction has no faults. But even stovies won't give you that guarantee! And if something goes wrong with a petrol/naptha stove, the results are usually very unpleasant. Outdoors, the risk is less. IN a van? Rather you than me!

If you are not satisfied that the valves and construction are in top condition and serviceable then your stove is not in good working order and you shouldn't use it anywhere. Liquid fuel stove mishaps can indeed be very unpleasant but in my experience such mishaps are, fortunately, the exception rather than the rule. Unpleasant accidents are a risk with any stove fuel. If you don't have the means to quickly extinguish your stove you are not operating it correctly. A great deal of care is required to operate a liquid fuel stove in the confines of a van and you must satisfy yourself that you have taken everything into consideration.

Squidders,
Without qualification your picture is worthless.

That was my intention... and light hearted trolling of course.

In all honesty, I don't like liquid fuel stoves, anything that can tip over slightly and soak my things in potential fire related disaster just isn't worth the trouble when there are so many inexpensive, very effective and easy-to-keep-safer options out there. It's not that liquid fuel stoves are bad, but they have undesirable qualities and not enough advantage over other types.

Fair comment.
I, on the other hand, like them.

Coleman liquid fuel stoves are great, but you wouldn't want to risk on in a van.

Don't see why not. Keep the stove maintained and you should have no issues, I cook in tents using paraffin and Coleman fueled stoves. I would guess more little gas stoves go 'bang' each year than liquid fuel stoves.

http://www.elyboatchandlers.com/ori...urner-free-standing-spirit-hob?source=Froogle will run on cheap methanol.

Personally in a van I'd use something like the £20 gas job with grill only for its simplicity in lighting.

How much gas does this stove burn through? Trying to determine if it makes sense to go with a gas stove or wood burning type rocket stove.
