Hi all, I am going to get an axe which I have seen in B&Q. well actually it was 2 axes for a tenner. I'll probably not use the larger axe much but for the price and not exactly being riddled with cash I thought this would be a cheap axe for my needs. I was looking at them last week and the"Mask" is a strip of plastic which clips on just covering the edge and doesn't look very secure. I have looked about on the internet for suppliers of leather ones but can't see anywhere that supplies them. Does anyone know of anywhere? Nothing fancy just basic and fit for purpose.

To be honest to have a leather sheath made for the 2 it will cost you allot more than the axes. If you have the money to pay for 2 leather covers I would spend it on an axe that comes with a sheath.

I bought a relatively cheap axe from home base and made my own cover out of an old pair of Para boots.

It is very easy to make just a edge guard from leather with an elastic strap to hold it on or if you want you can make a full sheath with very little equipment as long as you can get the leather. :)

Doesn't have to be leather really.
You could incorporate the existing guard in the design and use material to secure it - not sure how particuarly just thinking out loud

I carry axes, and billhooks in hessian sand bags. Just put the axe head in and tie around the handle.

Cheap, and never had a problem.

A mate made a box for his, few scraps of wood, and board for the sides, bolt and wingnut to hold it on, and some rubber to stop the edge slitting the wood.
