Made this ash spoon from an off cut whilst making a handle for a felling axe.
The dark colour is heartwood but I think the wood was a bit diseased as some of it was rotten.
It's not finished yet as it is a bit wet still.

Now that I like a lot. :)

Never had much success with ash myself, as it tends to split when I work it. Probably more due to my lack of skill than any property of the wood though.

Thanks guys.
The first large round of ash that I came home with a few weeks ago was for a handle on a felling axe.
I roughed it out, left it in the garage for a couple of days, when I went to finish it it was split in two places from end to end.
That is why I made my first large ask spoon.
Spandit, you noticed the box of knives then.
They will be getting new wooden handles at a later date.
The blades are in my opinion are great for the money.
