Dark side of the Moon
I would like to test out my new chain saw but have no place or wood to cut, so for the very small sum of a couple of litres of petrol i could pop round and do some of yours...

needs to be local ish to Dishforth North Yorks though...

any takers???? or do people know of a farmer who might like a hand for the day????

regards.

chris.

Begs the question why you bought it in the first place?!

I made friends with someone who has a small wood that needs coppicing. Doesn't help you as I'm down South but that might be an option for you up there

Maybe ring your local log supplier and get a few stumps delivered that way you can make yoursef some bits of furniture for the garden. I got 4 About 20 inches thick and about 4 ft tall delivered for £50. Hours of fun to be had there mate and something to show for it at the end

the wood and area i was going to use has been placed out of bounds, people are getting all shirtey and up tight about the waste wood being used, and people using their own tools, im not even supposed to change a light bulb, how stupid is that...

anyway, i was allowed now im not....:(

awesome idea but i cant use it at the house, or i would have done just that....:(

im not allowed to do much where i live, i might ask the farmers i know near me if anything needs doing, but thay have no real woods as such....

Is the Forrestry Commission nearby, they do sell permits exactly for this sort of thing. Dont walk round Catterick wearing a hockey mask, the recruits may get scared.

I was canoeing on Brecon canal this week and the forrestry commission are decimating loads of woodland. A chap pulled up along the tow path with a whell barrow and was told he could help himself.

I would give the FC a ring and see what they say.

sorry for this advise but no way will the forest commision allow you on there land with a chain saw, without the proper trianing and safty kit. I would think farmers wouldent want you near as you wouldent be coverd on the libility insurance, theres a really good reason for the safty,

very kind to offer red but its over 100 miles, i just cant afford it ATM and my boy is due any time... maybe i can tie it in on a weekend away at a later date...if that would be possible...

No worries - let me know if you ever fancy it - the stack is generally about double this

3) My log stack by British Red, on Flickr

It gets cut in one mahoosive effort. Be a good chance to work your saw, my saws, the pneumatic splitter etc.

Can supply PPE - even chainsaw boots if you happen to be a size 8 or so. Some instruction, log benches, mauls, grenades, all here to be used...tutorial and lunch for labour :)

awesome, you the man red....:notworthy

will defo take you up on this at some point, it might not be for ages though, maybe even next year....:(

Its a "come and go" thing mate. Once a year I put my headphones on, gear up, and cut wood. Thats me warm come what may. It would be great to have some company even for a day. It gets old after a while - but a great feeling when its done
