any one know what this is

found this little fella on a mooch in the new forest ,it was totally dried out.anyone know what it is (or was ) i would say it was about 2 inches long

Yeah it's most certainly a dragonfly nymph shell.

If you look on the dragonfly photos thread there is a picture of a draginfly emerging from on of these

thanks for the replies, i wasnt sure if it was somethings shell or not .i thought maybe it could have been a bug that something had sucked dry thats amazing how they can get out in one piece. incidently it was right next to a stream.
