Any Book Traders here?

Just asking - dealing with Father in Laws possessions , have a series of Old hardcover books to try and gauge there collective worth.

Any online systems the traders use? Currently my best tool is AbeBooks.

you are on the right track, Abebooks are probably your easiest option

Cheers Chas , some of them are pretty old - 1880's etc - just wanting to ensure I'm getting the family the right price.

Check the titles with Amazon too. "New and Used" section gives you a good idea of the retail value of some titles.

You could always list some on there and sell them yourself.

There used to be a publication, Book Auction Records, that we used rather like Glass is used in the motor trade. Not sure it is still published, ask at your library. But, looking up Abebooks, Alibris, and Amazon will give you a fair idea. Incidentally is there a copy of Hjortspring, Warfare and Sacrifice in Early Europe by Randsborg in the collection? I have been trying to find it.

I use bookfinder.com it lumps all the main sellers together instead of searching each site individually.

Addall http://www.addall.com/ is a US site (although it will also add UK sites as well), and works in a very similar way to Bookfinder. Of course prices vary by edition and condition, but at least you'll get some idea of the market.
