Since it was free entry to a lot of heritage sites and we were in Huddersfield anyway on Saturday we went and had a look at Oakwell Hall over near Batley. It's been restored to its 1690s condition and the kitchens and store room above it had some interesting bits. Some of the wooden ladles were quite delicate and I fancied making something along those line.
Anyroad, I didn't have a seasoned sycamore blank exactly right for the one we had photos of but one had potential to be turned into something less clunky than my other efforts. It's about 13 inches long and the bowls 3 3/4 inch across.
Ive been roped into a craft event at the Weavers Cottage Museum so need to make some new stuff over the next fortnight.
