Dark side of the Moon
Right, today i had the day off, this is the first for a long time due to pre-deployment training, courses etc etc etc...

i decided to take my best mate Boston, our 3 year old black great dane...:)

i only went 20 miles up the road but for me thats a long way, and uses to much fuel anyway, but i thought i would treat myself due to the good weather, and try my new meths stove out...

ok, all the boring writing first then all the pics...:)

i went to a forestry area at nether silton near the cleveland way, parked up grabbed my bag with the bits in and we where away down the track, the woods at this point are mixed birch and young oak, this changes into pine, spruce and larch with more mature trees further up the hill, i got to the track junction and hung a right down the forestry path, i found a small stream on the way up, we come to a small valley where 2 roe deer hinds got spooked by B, he must have thought NOM NOM NOM......:)

found a nice spot at the top and got some food and brew on with the compact meths stove i just made...

had a play with the bow drill with all natural bits, i tried to use spruce root as a cord but it did not work very well and droke very quickly....:(

packed up and went towards home but could not resist a final brew of pine needle tea as the day way so nice, and it was just so nice to get out after such a stressful time at work, cuddle with the dog and brew in the sun....:)

AWESOME.........;)

anyway, enjoy the pics, i have more on my phone which i will put on after

ok, so the internet is being rubbish so i will update them when its better....:(

at LAST!!!!!! pictures...

well it was some silly bit of bark that took a tiny bit of skin off, claret all over the place...

was an awesome day, well afternoon anyway...:)

the stoves are new, the hobo stand works well and the meths stove works well as a back up to wood... the steel cage needs to be cut down on the other pot though as the wind takes to much heat away from the pot...

worked well though...:)

Ah, the compulsory 'sharing the water bottle with the dog' situation ! I'm not sure our Chocolate Lab would drink from anything else now when we're out :)

i dont know how much water goes in but he seems to like it...:)

thanks Rich, he is an awesome dog, around 65 kg now, thats why we never had lunch next to the stream its self the fence was in the way, he is a bit big to lift over, especially with those legs flapping around....;)

thanks gents, it was an awesome day, today how ever is back to doing jobs and house work, bummer.....:(

anyway, the mug shot was a cheep shop jobey for 39p, it also made sense as it can be cooked in the packet if your careful, the NEW 2 in 1 coffee was a test, but i dont think for the price its worth it, a bit too creamy for me, im going to stick to cowboy coffee i think and stick with black nectar....;)

thanks again guys, and if anyone ever wants a walk up the place just let me know...:)

regards.

Stunning dog, nice & lean.............unfortunately danes arn't the longest lived of breed but they are magnificent....Incidently I find collapsable bowls extremely useful for watering the hound, they scrunge up very small so take up hardly any space....

thanks dude, he is just a very little under at the moment, but almost perfect weight, we dont use the dog bowls as danes get bloat, if they take water or food too low it can be a cause, hence the water bottle...:)

our last girl had bloat 4 times and was a very lucky girl to survive the first bout, let alone 4 times, if your very quick and know what to look for you can get it sorted though....

your boy is a very nice lad too...:)
