advise about jungle boots needed

can anybody recomend me a good brand of jungle boots, please?

one of the local shops has "altama-boots" in stock which are/were used by the military of a certain country which is currently (fortunately not much longer!) ruled by the great-grandson of a graverobber, but i remember reading somewhere that there were lately issues with the quality.

thanks

Hitec Magnums, the canvas ones

magnums fall apart within minutes in the UK let alone the jungle!
i would go for US issue jungle boots, tried and tested and unlike magnums they are designed for the jungle, holes in the instep to let water out, deep treaded soles which dont clog with mud and also the soles are spikeproof.
i dont think the altama boots are the same as the US issue boots.

I spent a couple of weeks stomping around Borneo this summer in a pair of the Altberg Jungle boots. Great kit - they looked after my feet beautifully.

Problem with jungle boots is that your feet get wet in them? Not much cop in the UK climate IMHO

They actually make a really good summer boot. Your feet don't get wet (unless you plunge them into a lake) and, if they do, there are drainage holes to get rid of the worst. Because they aren't padded, they don't sop up moisture as ordinary boots do and they dry quickly as well. With a lack of padding, they are also good and light so you don't ever feel as though you're swinging anvils on the end of your legs. The Altberg model is good because it has a firm, supportive sole that stabilises your foot well on uneven terrain.
