Under a tree
Maybe pushing a bit asking on a bushcraft forum but my google-fu has let me down.

Anyone know where I can find a pair of these within the EU? I've found one site that seems a bit dodgy with no contact details or address listed, one pair on ebay in the wrong size, and that's about it.

These are the shoes I'm talking about.

Am I going to have to bite the bullet and order from the states?

Aye they look practical but best of all not over engineered like all the other trail shoes I've seen. Understated rather than straight out of Tron..

The dodgy site is this one, lists no details that I can find doesn't put me at ease.

what you really want is http://www.vibramfivefingers.it/eng/default.aspx

I saw a fella snorkling in a pair in Malaysia last time I was there and just knew I had to get a pair. not a single shop in Newcastle has them so checked them out online and drove from Newcastle to North Yorkshire to get a pair. I ran the deer stalker race 5km mountain race in Scotland last week in them and not a single blister or sore spot!

Mind you it does take some getting used to as it totally changes the way I walk and run when I wear them, its as close as I've ever got to wearing shoes and feeling like bare foot..

I considered a pair but I like being able to wear socks!

Sure, or I could just get a pair that'll let me wear the socks I already have ;) I do like the idea of minimalist 'bare foot' shoes, one of the ones I considered were the Feelmax Niesa and Kuuva

not as cool looking though :P

I'd recommend reading Born to run if you haven;t read it already. Really made me think about the way I run.

Well I don't run, I have a bum knee mate. I was looking for an alternative to hiking in boots. I like the idea of the vibrams as I spend almost all my time at home barefoot, but I'm not sure I could hike in them with any kind of weight on my back (~10kg), or as I mentioned above, without any socks!

In fairness most of my deerstalker run was walking as the uphill and downhill stretches were single file and I got stuck behind people :(

I was carrying my small pack with 1litre of water, rain coat, first aid kit, compass and whistle, chocolate, gloves and hat and a head torch.... not quite 10kg I know but I didn't find the going to bad on my feet. I tell you one thing it makes you really conscious of where you put ya feet mind lol. I was always dead set against doing any hiking in anything but boots but I'm slowly starting to change my mind about what one "really" needs when outdoors.

Going back to the original question
why not contact the "dodgy" site using the contact button of which I can see 2 and see what transpires

They do look like a nice lightweight trail shoe indeed

Yep yep I have done, shot them an email asking where they're based and a contact no. Otherwise Adidas direct as Shewie suggests..

Happy to take suggestions for alternate shoes. My only prerequisite is they don't look too flash.

I have not. Is that what you use dude? I had a look at these Five Ten in the shop but the grip isn't very aggressive. Loved the weight of them tho.

Or I could get the Bear Grylls Urban Survivor Trail Shoe... just for the name LOL

You were all talking in tongues until I clicked on Highbinder's Five Ten link. I so need a pair. They won't be seeing any running mind, but nice for the price. Big cool factor with me. I like.
