There is a new web service that many members of this forum would likely enjoy. Inuit filmmaker Zacharias Kunuk and his co-producer Norman Cohn,(created The Fast Runner) have launched a new public service venture to encourage the sharing of aboriginal films around the world.
Online you currently have access to over 100 films by and about aboriginals from all areas of the world. The service is currently free to all viewers and posters, however, this may change over the next year or two once the concept is firmly established.
In the meantime I would strongly recommend that we take advantage of this new site and encourage others to spend time listening to the voices of First Peoples from around the world.
To give you an idea of the quality and character of films that are currently available for viewing, The Journals of Knud Rasmussen and The Fast Runner were some of the earliest posts. You will also find documentaries, childrens programs, in addition to recordings of traditional teachings and ceremonies.
Enjoy many hours of browsing, there should be something of interest for everyone. A word of caution, these are independant films, they could be amatuer, professional and the experience may challenge your perceptions.
