I normally don’t post pictures of myself for many reasons. But over the years Clem of this parish has made me look cool. So this is a tribute to his photography. Which we all should see more of as he truly does justice to the wild places and atmosphere they create.

Cheers mate for making a normally geeky awkward bloke in pictures, actually look cool. 6F430895-0962-4AD5-93B8-AA859DA3BE12.jpeg

It is indeed. It’s a joy to shoot. One of my favourite bows, it’s brilliant.

The arrow is Herne’s silver arrow. From Robin of Sherwood.

Nope. Still not registering with me I'm afraid.

Doesn't look very aerodynamic. Unless its got some 21st century micro missile rockets in it?

I don't even recognise the TV series. Is this pre the Robin Hood one with Sean Connerys soon. ?

It was aired in 1982. Still considered to be the best iteration of the legend on screen. Jason Connery took over from Michael Praed in Series 3. The silver arrow was an ancient totem representing England, which belonged to Herne the Hunter, forest God and Lord of the Trees. Robin of Loxley, like his father before him was the guardian of the arrow. Which led to the archery contest and him winning it back from the Sheriff. The Sheriff had killed Ailric, Robins father, when he was just a child, and taken the arrow to quell the English uprising.

It was a 1940s event along the Severn Valley Railway. They do all the stations on the route in WW2 regalia, trains too. Everyone dresses in 1940s attire and forces uniform. Runs for two weekends with period entertainment and BoB memorial flight flyovers. Cracking event. I pay tribute to my grandad by wearing his uniform.

Thanks. My wife was born in 1940. Her father flew Lancasters before returning to the RAF Film Unit. Although a film producer by profession, he has a walk-on part in "Journey Together" , a 1946 film about the wartime RAF, starring Richard Attenborough a great friend and colleague. You might find it of interest.
