Haven't a clue on the wood, I just picked up a bent stick I found on the floor while walking the dog, it could be Birch (probably), Beech or something else. The bend in the stick meant that the grain runs with the shape of the spoon so I could make it thin but still retain some reasonable strength.
A few more bits to add to the collection. The cup is Birch and the Fork and Spoon are Maple (I think).
Really like playing with the spoon knife and contrary to the masses, I haven't even touched the blade since purchase. Probably could do with a little touch up but it's still usable.

Forgive my ignorance and I'm sure it has probably been covered on other threads, but do you need to treat the finished item before use and if so with what?
