A good day and winnings

This morning was so dark and miserably wet, I almost didn't bother to go to the weekly talking cafe in the local community centre, but I arrived an hour after it began, and they were holding an energy quiz. I joined in and came first, winning an air fryer, which I didn't want, so gave it back to them for the raffle. Then I won first prize in the raffle, I chose a slow cooker instead You could have knocked me down with a feather! I've never won anything in my life. After that the sun came out and the dismal day is now bright, dry and cheery.
I also got a new hot water bottle and some of those chemical hand warmers they were giving away.
To think, I nearly stayed in bed and didn't go.

I know how it feels too... some of my best car boot sale finds have been on days when I nearly stayed in bed!

I think I've had my quota of luck today. !
Liver and onions with organic mushrooms (I ran out of bacon, and can't be bothered to trek into town for some) now bubbling away in the slow cooker. I had planned to do it in my large frying pan. I can now get on with tying down stuff in the garden ready for this next storm tomorrow and getting the log burner set, logs in and ready, candles in place, new batteries in the fairy lights etc, ready for any possible power cuts, while it safely bubbles away, without having to check for burning.

Everyone was drooling over the air fryer, it was a realy expensive one with two frying trays. I have no need of it. Could have come home with both if I'd wanted, but I'm glad someone else got a chance to own something to help with the bills. The slow cooker is only small, just perfect for me on my own.

Have you got one of those plug-in timer switches? Set up the slow come for a few hours hence. Go out and do something then come back in to the stew all ready and waiting.
[ voice of experience off - Remember to unplug it within 24 hours or you might find that you can burn it!!!!]. My timer plug has a two position switch but neither is “off”. It’s either on full or on timer. I’m sure that there is something much more clever now.

Things happen in threes. That is not just bad things but good too. you should have got a lottery ticket!! Or at least tell me your numbers!!!

BTW my threes involved about 5 or 6 years when 3 people died on my Birthday!! That date has never been the same since. Well until I got the good karma several years later when my son was born hours after my birthday finished. Since then that time of year became a time of fun and happiness again!!

A close relative died on my birthday then a year later I saw someone die minutes after being hit by a car. I saw the police officer cover the body. Then I had to wait a few years for the third death to come. I am not superstitious but after the second death on my Birthday I did kind of feel scared as my birthday approached.

On a positive note would it not be good if you had got a lottery ticket that won!! Even a little win makes me feel positive and happy but If I ever got the £100m + euromillions win I would not complain neither. I think WG is due one more good event after the two yesterday.

I think I'll take the fact that I've not had to suffer the storm, spent a quiet night, and woken up to calm and sunshine as my third bit of luck.
My needs are met, and it's a lovely morning. What more could I want?

Once the storm passes it leaves a nice day with clear skies. It is blue with thin white clouds here. Looks mild out there now. The calm after the storm. Isn't there supposed to be another coming next week?
