As we get towards the end of the year, I had the idea of looking back at the year and trying to come up with 12 pictures (1 per month, although not necessarily 1 from each month) that summarise the year for me.
It turned out to be pretty difficult, but this is what I came up with:
January was easy. A trip to the Elan Valley near Rhayader resulted in some of the best pictures I've ever taken. This one isn't the very best, but it is what I remember of the day.
February was the start of Crickhowell walking festival, which my wife has taken to in a big way. She doesn't get out as much as she used to, due to health issues, so this one of her on the Table Mountain (Crug Hywel) means a lot to both of us.
For March I've included a shot taken at a kids Easter event at a local Wildlife Trust nature reserve. This year I have rediscovered how much I enjoy helping out and doing wildlife education things.
April was my first big photography splurge, mainly because I got a new camera for my birthday in March. Of many choices, I picked this one of the Chartists Cave, Mynydd Llangynidr, mainly because I finally found where it is!
I didn't do so much in May, but this one of some moss is rather nice.
June includes the longest day, and these are fireworks at sunset over Blaenavon on the solstice.
July is my wedding anniversary, and being strapped for cash we ended up on a local hilltop at sunset, where we met a herd of semi-wild horses coming down to the car park for a good scratch against various signboards. My wife was entranced. I like this shot, of one of the horses expressing its opinion of my photographic skills.
August was another day trip to the Elan Valley, and a picnic near these waterfalls on the Afon Claerwen.
September was when the fungi came out.
October was notable for my first group overnight camping trip ever (thanks to The Big Lebowski and to Dave53). Here's a nice one of the fire we had.
November was my trip onto Gilwern Hill, and yet another waterfall.
And finally, Christmas day, a stroll in a local wood, and this semi-frozen stream.
Its been a good year for me. I hope yours has been equally good. Thanks for the company.
