1st spoon of 2013, another lilac

Here we go. A tiny bit more sanding to do. The grain really dictated the shape here. The stunning colours haven't yet faded on my last lilac spoon, so fingers crossed for this one.

Thanks - A little bit stringy, but generally lovely to work. I find it hard to get a tooled finish on though.

I keep looking at my garden lilac thinking of reasons why it needs pruning...

Just time and practice im afraid Mike, but, i do find it takes me longer to get a the tooled finish on Lilac than almost any other wood ive used

Thanks - It's a bit magical. When I carved my first bit of lilac I had no idea how vibrant the colours were. I've been told they go brown over time but so far that hasn't been the case.
