Here are some pictures of my first attempt at a full tang blade - i cheated a little :puppy_dog by opting to modify rather than do all the metal work from scratch.
Blade is a Frosts Laplander 115. Handle is Olive wood - which was a real pleasure to work with, beautiful aroma. Finished with a selection of natural oils and beeswax. Green Fibre liners - that are so dark they look almost black :( .

The sheath I made myself also, it does the Job well but it's quite thin - it's around 1mm thick not the usual 3mm that's so popular.

Since taking these pics i've modified the handle ever so slightly to remove some imperfections. i'll try and put up some new pics for you to see what you think

Well, actually have about 6 scandi hidden tangs on the go for handling at the moment. And there's a bunch of O1 waiting in the wings, as i've sumed up enough courage to go the whole hog. All about finding the time.
Thanks for the comment Tone.

Lovely!!!!

Can I make a sugestion.

You could put a couple of eyelets in the sheat in the "unused leather" to add another option for carry......

Just a thought

Regards

Most camping/caravan type places should supply brass ones for that thickness
Regards

Thanks for the tip pignut - had trouble finding some that grip/fit nicely with leather that's this thickness (1-1.5mm). Any ideas let me know.
Cheers

Thanks Hoodo, Here's some pics of the liners - and you can see were haste let me down. I got excited as i saw the finished product start to take shape and rushed - you'll notice that the tang edge is very rough with the Frosts factory finish untouched by the sanding. In my ignorance i thought i could take it off as i formed the scales - forgetting the blade is sandvik stainless that's already hardened!

I'll post some newer pics as soon as i can as i've now removed this unsightly blemish and added a thumb depression at the hilt for an alternative tool grip.

As promised here are some more recent pictures with those unsightly marks removed, and a small thumb depression added to aid grip in chestlever type grips - using this knife with a poor grip 2 months ago cost me the feeling in the tip of my wedding ring finger!!:yikes: just missed taking top the top off completely!
Not the first time to act the fool, never seem to get away with it like others though:dunno:
