    charcloth question

When I made my first charcloth I didn't want to make a fire so I took an old 'camping gaz' cooker I had bought at a boot sale and drilled out the hole the gas comes out of a little larger. This made the flame burn yellow (not so hot) I then cut up squares of cloth and laid them in a 2 oz...

    Further knife ban

Some years ago an uncle of mine had his throat cut after an argument with a yob in a pub. Yob ran next door to the butchers shop, grabbed a knife off the block, came back into the pub and took a swipe as uncle sat playing cards. Maybe we should ban butchers from having knives?

    Further knife ban

The general public. If they make it easy to prosecute just for carrying a knife with no intention of using it illegally, then the numbers will go up and they can say "see! we are cracking down on knife crime". These are the ones who will suffer to make the numbers look good. Me too...

    living in the woods

I would be more impressed with schemes to make existing houses more eco friendly. IMO schemes like the one in the article are open to the abuse of building on green belt land just for the sake (money) of it.

how to cook fray bentos pies in camp fire

How about placing one on the upturned lid of a suitable sized billy then putting the main part on and covering that with ashes? Could stand the pie tin on 3 pebbles to prevent burning.

    Pay it Back.........

I cannot afford to bid in auctions at this time, but will certainly be doing all I can to spread the word, already sent some emails. Kudos to all who are putting up items for auction. People may or may not think the war is 'right' but this sort of treatment of our troops is entirely...

    Hammock Webbing Sagging

I have used the thicker paracord but it still sagged somewhat, I now use that webbing from those ratchet tie down straps you can buy on markets etc (cheap too). No sag at all and I am a big fella.

Calm down folks. In the event of a disaster/crisis/meltdown the government would be straight in to feed/water/protect us. No worries.
