I bought a deerhunter pro gamekeeper jacket for exactly this reason to replace the same jacket. Bought just before Christmas and it's been absolutely superb very comfortable. The only slight issue I have is I feel its a bit too long to look smart around town in the current weather we're having...

Had muck boots for about 4 years they where great the neo in the heel wore out and became uncomfortable. treated myself to aigle iso parcours 3 years in now still like new and miles more comfortable for me so definitely worth the extra money imo
Little update on this no issues at all, I'm bordering on using another layer now it's getting colder just a tshirt under is close to cold, it definitely breathes on a walk and it's exceptionally comfortable. I own loads of jackets and this has become my go to it just works and up to now 100%...
I doubt it mate they need to be sat on a hot surface to generate enough electricity to turn the fan, from memory the top of a calour gas stove probably wouldn't get hot enough
I normally fall between L and XL I've gone with xl for this and it fits well with room for layers. I'm a 44" chest 6ft1. I'll try and get a weight at the weekend however this is lighter than my barbour Beaufort it's replacing and thankfully the sleeves are longer than the Beaufort as well which...
I've been searching for a new jacket to replace and aging barbour, with lots of reading on here but no mention of this coat I found newforest clothing had the deerhunter jacket with almost £100 off. I was debating between this and a few others like ridgeline monsoon jacket.
anyway so Its...
Have a look at the new paramo bentu plus fleece as well, I have the standard fleece which has been superb over the years but lacking when we hit winter the plus version is thicker and should be just the ticket. Gorge outdoors is the best price I found but definitely worth shopping around
When I haven't got a beard I use a 3 piece razor for shaving when I have my beard just an electric trimmer for tidy ups and the 3 piece for my neck Mach 3s can sod off cause untold in growing hairs etc plus the cost is ridiculous.
Had one of these

Nikwax or graingers for me works a treat I've moved more to graingers these days since nikwax stopped doing tins of wax and moved to a cream I'm sure it works but doesn't inspire the same confidence that works in a good wax does.
A colleague has had a 4x4 sprinter for the past few years more expensive on toll roads etc so I'm guessing the same for ferries, his is used as a work van / somewhere to sleep when working away and he has nothing but good things to say about it despite him being a moaning sod (think victor...
The bentu fleece doesn't have the same liner so isn't as warm as the taiga (or as heavy) the fleece is effectively the pump liner itself no separate liner inside like the taiga.
Quixoticgeek answered it pretty well to be honest about the windproof it's shower proof for a pretty good shower but you'll get damp in a downpour in my experience.
I've never tried it with another fleece so I can't really answer but together as a combo they're so versatile as I said earlier...
They've just released a velez jacket if you have a google around, I've got the helki jacket which falls somewhere between my Alta2 and velez smock but as my previous comment the bentu combo is the one I use most these days.
