    UKHammocks T/UQ (Summer fill) Opinions?

I think your worst possible outcome is a £266 bill, a bit more if the $1500 doesn't include p&p. Pound is at its strongest against the dollar for about 4 years :)

    UKHammocks T/UQ (Summer fill) Opinions?

The UK import fees will be 20% VAT plus duty of about 5-8%, plus processing fee of around £10 for brokering your parcel through customs. The VAT is on top of everything.

    Luxe Sil-Hexpeak- First pitch (Successfully!)

That tent doesn't look too happy, seeing as that costs more than my silnylon Robens Mythos Solo, which is superb, I would expect a lot more from it.

    Luxe SilHexpeak

What are the benefits of this style of tent over, say, a domed tent or more 'normal' styles?

I came home to my parents' home to find my kilt totally eaten last year, still so gutted about it.

Tipi tent with frontier stove - Carbon Monoxide and Smoke detector needed?

I don't know if you need one but the CO alarm I bought last week didn't need to be installed at height, the manual said you could just leave it on a shelf at sleeping height

    Hammock sock/pod

I'm currently making a down peapod but it's going to be a labour of love! The sock should be fairly simple to make, I'm sure there are loads of plans on hammockforums.net. If you're not the DIY type ukhammocks would probably be able to knock you up one.

One last quick review of my BRS-8 before I chuck it

Mm yea I would say about 30% of the stuff I buy is from China so I'm in no way anti-Chinese stuff but I think that a fair judgement of the stove would be it's about low-medium quality. If you're not happy with an item which burns pressurised petrol being low-medium quality I would maybe leave it.

    Hammock mods - worth it?

I've read that the dyneema fibres in the core suffer from being crushed in the Garda hitch and it causes the cord to lose its strength. Also it seems that the pressure of the hitch just causes thin cord to degrade in general.

One last quick review of my BRS-8 before I chuck it

cheers Toddy, felt a bit guilty throwing it out without an obituary. Hopefully this'll be useful to someone thinking of buying one so they can weigh up the options.

One last quick review of my BRS-8 before I chuck it

I know the BRS-8 has been done to death but I thought I'd give mine a wee sending off review before I decommission it. I bought it in the Summer of 2012 because I wanted a multi-fuel stove for my cycle tour to France but I couldn't justify the price of a Primus/MSR/Optimus and most of the...

One for the swingers , M65 Hammock

Interesting, can't see any benefits over a hammock/tarp setup though other than saving a bit of money, looks like you have to pitch it taut so you wouldn't get much of the comfort of sleeping in a hammock, also you'd need to find suitable sticks for the spreader bars and the tarp coverage looks...

Anyone know if this ebay 2mm Dyneema can be used to make whoopie slings?

That's great thanks for the info, i think i'll go for The Stein throwline 2.2mm, from here http://www.mowers2go.co.uk/machines/buy-the-stein-skyline-dyneema-throwline-2-2mm-50m/ Seems to be £21 for 50m, obviously that's way more than i need and it's not exactly subtle for stealth camping! I...
