Go for a dutch one. Really versatile bit of kit. Can be used as a poncho, tarp or bivi. I have done a few videos of the poncho set up as a bivi bag.

Ah I have a 3 x 3 tarp that doubles up as a tarp tent for me and the wife. She likes a bit of privacy when we are walking miles from anywhere
It has to be light because we walk 20+ miles a day and need to keep it lightweight as possible. A small tarp and the IPK cover can be split...
The shockcord enables the sheet to be set up with flexibility. I have been thinking about cutting a slit down the middle and putting a storm flap over it. The flap would be sealed with velcro.
Check out animal tendencies video...
I have just completed a little project. I took an offcut of an IPK and cut it into a triangle. I added webbing corners that were riveted. On to these I attached shock cord with plastic hooks on the end.
The upshot is an end that will provide extra coverage at the front of ends of a tarp. So, no...
Thats a good idea. I have done the old knot trick in silnylon before. I had thought about mini bulldog clips (got plenty of them) and tarp clips. I just enjoy the challenge of engineering my own kit. Next up is a DIY Thermarest chair.
I say cut the corners but I didn't as such. I merely cut a slit in to allow for the edges to fold across. I wanted a sheet that could be used flat or as a bathtub groundsheet.
Thanks for your comment. All I did was make a cut 3" running from the edge to the inside. If you want a smaller or larger edge you just need to change the length of the cut. It is incredibly simple to do. I will try to get a picture for you.
I just thought I would share my bathtub groundsheet that I just made using a spare IPK that I had lying about. It is put together with press studs at the corners, and lightweight pegs around the perimeter just to help it hold it's shape.
I have just done a vid of it on youtube...
Hi Guys,
I have just converted one of my IPK's into a bathtub groundsheet. Dead simple to do, packs flat, lightweight, and strong.
I have put a video on youtube.

Let me know what you think.
Hi Chaps,
I have just done a few more vids using slightly different configurations. I have to say it is proving to be a versatile and tough bit of kit.

I had a day off today. The sun was shining so I had a play.
I managed to shoot a shaky video of the set up. I weighed all the bits less the walking pole and the whole lot came out at 1.7Kg.
I uploaded to video to youtbe - http://youtu.be/DbCepguDwTs
I have adapted mine to create a fire box, grill, and to use it as a normal stove. Just wacked a video and shoved it onto Youtube. Take a look.

Yes first time I have used the camera. Think I may stick the old head torch on next time. I filmed it in the middle of the day - bright sunshine, and yet the canvas blocks out much of the light. It goes to show the quality of the canvas.
It is more of an eliptical shape. The porch makes a...
The weight is 3.8kg.
It is only going to be used for cold winter camps and as a base camp where a huge walk in is not necessary.
I have a 4 x 4 DD tarp for the nicer weather.
I can roll the 3 ponchos up and strap them to the bottom of my norwegian pack without any bother. My mini...
