    Dave Cantebury discussing Dual survival

That was my second choice after Les Stroud - and I only chose Les because of the harmonica.

    Dave Cantebury discussing Dual survival

Oh, I loathe to get into this discussion. As for why DC was banned from other forums... From my understanding, he was promoting himself, he was getting popular, and some people didn't like the self-promotion and there was a back-and-forth that led to someone seeking out his military records and...

Yank here, inquiring about DD tarps...

Yeah, I heard about the tears and saw that they fixed that issue with the triangular mounting patches. From what I read, DD customer service was incredible in making sure that got fixed and customers were made happy with returns/refunds/exchanges. There are silnylon options, which I am looking...

Yank here, inquiring about DD tarps...

We have a few tarp makers in the US, obviously, but I've got my eye on DD's Solo Tarp (so many attachment points!), and I was just wondering how you all like DD tarps - Are they good all seasons? Need much seam sealing? Any issues with sparks from a fire causing serious damage? Just looking for...

    Right on. :)

    Thoughts on using surplus?

I only wish some of the surplus you guys easily find could be found over here! I was darn lucky to find an unissued desert dpm basha from a seller, but I won't go into what I paid for it! :theyareon

Some people don't look like the type who would sit at a computer reading/posting on message boards and blogs and the like... He looks like one of those people. Not knocking him, as I wish I wasn't so needful of my online time either...

    Thoughts on using surplus?

Thank you all for your viewpoints! It's enlightening. :) I don't go out in full on military camo. I wouldn't wear the outfit, as it were. My surplus is basically a pack/pouches, a canteen cup, tarp, etc. I may wear a surplus coat or pants, but I try to keep it simple and as non-threatening as...

    Thoughts on using surplus?

I apologize if this topic has been discussed before (I did a search on surplus and didn't see anything)... What are your views on folks using military surplus kit? Clothes, packs, pouches, cook sets, etc... Also, what if they were not in the military and use this kit? Here in the...

    Moras

Yeah, I can't really get into the whole full tang vs stick tang vs tang length debate anymore, because I've just decided to use a knife as a knife instead of a multi-tool. I've really abused Clippers and I have yet to have one fail beyond edge rolling/chipping...I did have a 511 crack the...

    Bayonets

Ha! Those Enfield spikes are pretty plentiful over here, too... My dad used on as a probe/digging tool for years when metal detecting (I finally bought him a proper trowel for such business, lol). That second one is lovely...

Anyone use the Tom Brown tracker?

Me either, and I live in a really hard wood area compared to most (hickory, walnut, ironwood, thornapple, etc)... You just have to be smart about what you decide to "pound" your knife into... And then use your axe/tomahawk instead anyway. ;) I hate abusing knives! Every tool for it's job, I say!

No hollow... The slabs fit together like Legos and then you screw it in. As for the Sharpmaker... I'd rather not. It's easier for me to carry a small stone (or even sandpaper and a strop) around when out and about, rather than a whole sharpening system that is a little heavy once you get the...

    cant decide!!!

I've heard great things about the Condor and Enzo knives... I like the Condor's appearance better, though, and have been squirreling away rainy day money for it.

Oh, and if you think the blade on that Izula is just a tad small... You can get the Ka-Bar EsKaBar (cheaper, even), which is an ESEE Izula handle mated to a Becker Necker (BK11) 3" blade.

Top left. To go around the horn... Top Left: Izula with micarta. Top Right: Ontario Ranger Little Bird (fun little one!). Beneath Top Right: CRKT Ritter Mk5 (also fun). Right: Spyderco Ambitious (wasn't a fan). Middle Right: SOG multi-tool (didn't like it, sold it). Middle Left: ESEE-4 (didn't...
