    New Skis

These skis were made about a year ago. They work quite well. There is too much writing to post everything here, so I'll add a link to the original post. Any questions are welcomed. http://livingprimitively.com/2014/01/making-skis/

    Traditional Norwegian Snowshoes

Copied from my site: This area being characterized by very steep terrain, Canadian snowshoes are sometimes of limited usability, same with skis. The traditional snowshoes of Norway were usually made with a juniper frame and birch withies as webbing. They don’t float nearly as well on...

    (Nearly) Completed full winter clothing

Thought I'd share some developments on my full winter clothing. I found I very rarely would need two layers of reindeer fur, so I decided to turn my inner coat into an outer coat. Very few modifications were made, but a collar with the fur turning inward were added around the neck to reduce...

Instructional video for you who've always wanted to try it. I'm aware that some parts might be a bit unclear. Please ask me to clarify. :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeW1txQ4NqM

    Expedition video camera?

I'm considering starting to film some of my expeditions and for that I need to buy a new camera. Do any of you have any ideas what kind of cameras are good for cold weather filming, with high battery capacity as well as having a pretty good video quality? Preferably not too heavy either. I'd...

    New Primitive Fishing Video

Made a new fishing video if anyone wants to have a look. I'm demonstrating very primitive fishing techniques for fishing spawning brown trout. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaPX3Adtjzs

    Conspiring together a box

It's not completely finished yet, lacks a lid. The plan is to use it to stored rendered fat.

In wild reindeer country (very picture heavy)

In my county (Telemark) we have one (actually two separate ones) of the most southern wild reindeer populations in Scandinavia. Two years ago, a couple of friends and I were up in the mountains, doing some under ice netting and various stuff. I thought I'd share some pictures with you. We saw...

    Smoking is good for you

At least this kind of smoking, in moderation probably though. Keeps the flies away while drying and makes even lean fish and meat taste splendid. Just crisp it back up on the coals and you have either something that tastes like bacon or fish biscuit.

    Bye forever folks!

It's time to move on. I've spent way too much time here. I did enjoy it, but not so much anymore. Sending me a PM will not work from this day. Disease free, at last...

    Best bird?

Leon-b and I have had a discussion lately of which chicks are the best, is it the British or the Scandinavian ones? Factors ranging from physical condition, shape and colour should be taken into consideration. Input from people who have been in both places would be appreciated. Thank you

A little fishing in the mountains.

I've been back home for a week now. One day one of my brothers and I went fishing. We went to a small fish where I nearly always get this much fish. Not primitive fishing this time I'm afraid. Here is the lake, very small, but absolutely packed with wild brown trout. In less than 30 minutes I...

The bcuk disease: A treatise of symptoms, consequences and treatment.

Quick overview A very high daily posting ratio is the first symptom of this ever growing disease. It seems yet mostly confined to the British Isles of which it seems to be endemic, but there have been occational outbreaks in the surrounding lands as well in recent years. Even in Scandinavia and...

    Winter course in Norway

There has been an offer on for some time on the FM forum. Since there are now 2 available places because of cancellations I though I'd post it here. Further info on the course can be found here: http://www.gaaren.no/courses.htm Discussion and questions here (after confirming that you...

The full accomodation also comes with soil and lid. Maybe not the full 5 stars, but it shows that I do take my executions very seriously. :sadwavey:

    I hate paypal!!!

I have recently come to the conclusion that paypal sucks! All that confirmation here and there. I'm not interested in faxing them my personal info. Man, I don't even have a fax machine! Today there was another form in my mail. Lots of things I need to find out, which I don't even know what...
