Are rabbits indiginous to the UK?

To poach Time Team (it was quick ..ok!) Another important goddess was Eostre, goddess of the spring, dawn, new life and beginnings. She gave her name to the Christian spring festival of Easter, which was originally held on the same day as the festival of Eostre – 21 March, the spring equinox...

    Seagulls

Your local pest control should be able to help, they don't shoot the gulls, they shoot the eggs - they are less likely to attack if they have no eggs and it also reduces the next population of gulls in a city. Of course if we were better at dealing with our rubbish, they wouldn't in the...

    Is this a pignut?

I keep finding them out in meadows, less so in woodland (up in Nottingham, Derbyshire and Liecester anyway) It's a good sign that grassland has been around for a while, if they are growing there. They apparently like acidic soil, so check out trees that like acidic soil it may give you a hint...

    edible tree leaves, pignuts.

Just a note of caution, if you are popping 'out of work' to eat tree leaves - be aware of where the trees are, many are road side and absord all kinds of nasty things. (In fact some trees are planted for that very reason - london plane for example)

    sherwood pines

Rufford is an excellent place to go - through out the year. (Also, has a good spread of trees, rather than forestry land pines - a good place for false tinder fungus and free standing dead birch, as well as live ones :))
