    Helle Knives?

I've got a Helle Trofé. Helle knives offer excellent value for money IMO. http://www.bushcraftuk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=500&cat=507

Thats what I call a SAK.

Doesn't really qualify as an EDC knife... still it has gotta be the Mother of all SAK's!

    Helle knifes

    1. yes 2. the Helle knives have a hidden stick tang. Some knives (Harding and Trofe) have a stud on the end that's used to secure the knife in the sheath. Here's my knife: http://www.bushcraftuk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=500&size=big&si=helle

    Stewart Marsh Bushcraft Knife

The handle looks like curly birch to me, and a very nice knife I might add. Too bad you have to bid on eBay to obtain one now.

    Finished my first full-tang

Wow, stunning piece of work! Love the combination of the handle and sheath.

    fallkniven

It's a very nice knife by the looks of it. Fallkniven knives have a good reputation, don't worry you did get a very decent knife. The price you paid isn't bad either!

    Handle preserver?

The handle of my Helle was treated like this: I applied a little oil (mixture of boiled linseed & tung oil) with a cotton rag and then all of a sudden the grain popped up beautifully. After that I soaked it for a few hours to intensify the pattern. Then came the tedious bit, wiping off the...

    Not chuffed :-(

Sorry to hear about your Polar. I too wouldn't be pleased if it happened to my Helle. I'd skip the supplier route, instead contact Helle directly and add a close(r) up picture of the damage. I'd like to know what the reply will be. Keep us informed please.

    Helle knives

I used a commercially available "full solid" oil (meaning no solvents) that's on/in my oak floor boards too. It's a mixture of tung and boiled linseed oil and a few additives. After I saw what it did on my oak floor I was confident it would look great on my Helle too.

    Helle knives

I've got a Helle Trofe, and can agree that the finish can be a bit rough. I sanded the handle and then applied some oil (tung & boiled linseed oil mixture) and then the grain really popped up. Much nicer than the factory finish IMO. Inset shows the factory finish

True, Sandvik 12C27 is a fine knife steel.

    folkekniven

FWIW my Helle Trofe is (laser?) etched with the text: Laminated stainless steel. What kind of text does your Folkekniven have?
  17. T

    folkekniven

Most Helle knife blades are triple laminated, some use Sandvik 12C27 steel. According to the Helle website the Folkekniven knife blade is Sandvik steel.

    2nd Knife - No.2 "Purple Reindeer"

Very nice combination of natural materials for the handle. The straight handle though is not my cup of tea, but hey if it floats your boat... Nice workmanship on the blade. I really dig the unpolished roughness of the blade. Works very well in this utility style knife IMO. Reminds me of...
