    Carry a small garden shovel all the time. Can be used to support the tarp and makes a great improvised frying pan. Weighs in at around 2Lb. No digging sticks availible out here!!

    Paully fuzz, I think that its your choice as to the skills you want to learn / practice. Personally I think that hunting and trapping can be dangerous in any survival situation.

    The event was named RV after the meetings of the mountain men in N America. It has nothing to do with military RV's. Good to see it is still running from small beginings of 12 BCUK members. I am sure it will be a great event.

    You could try contacting Duncan Clark at North Ridge Adventure. The last time we met he was planning and developing a recognised UK survival instructor qualification. I personally use my BTDI qualification and have done the for the last 20 years or so teaching survival skills.

    Relying on your phone to get a position is not guaranteed, therefore having a GPS or map & compass so you can tell them your exact position is good practice, or bettter still carrying a PLB.
